Latitude E7450 touchpad issue

Earlier today, in the course of a service chat on another issue, I asked about this.

Agent had me check that I had up-to-date BIOS and touchpad drivers (I did). Then she had me run a system file check. This found corrupt files and repaired them... but I don't know what was actually repaired. 

This was a couple of hours ago - touchpad working now but since the problem is sporadic I'll wait to say that the problem is solved.

I too am facing the same issue, just received this laptop as a replacement for my old dell e6420 from my company. seems to be a hardware fault.

Brand new E7450, just unboxed yesterday and I'm having the same touchpad issues. Sometimes it works fine and then jittery, and then just unresponsive. A reboot usually brings it back for a brief while before the issues start up again. VERY aggravating. 

I've tried everything I can think of to get it to work smooth, but I think it's just bad hardware. I'll be calling tech support tomorrow to have the touchpad replaced.... NOT good DELL.

Apologies for delayed response ,but kindly confirm if you have updated the BIOS and touch pad drivers .

If its done then check the system's performance with an external mouse .

If this also has been done then revert with system service tag ( via private message ) so that I can assist you further .

I had the same problem as many have described.

What worked for me after i had tried everything else:

Re-downloaded the touchpad driver, then I extracted the files out of the exe file before installing with the extracted setup.exe.

Could be random :P

The problem still persists after the driver is installed. I have a new lattitude e7450 running Windows 7 Enterprise. 

The touchpad is choppy and does not track my finger movement. I tried adjusting the setting on the software, but that did not help.

What can I do to fix the problem?

I think I posted this issue originally - I ended up simply having the touchpad replaced. It has worked perfectly since then (approx. 3 months).

It's definitely hardware.

definettly HW issue. touchpad is choppy out of the box in BIOS. has nothing to do with any drivers. Calling support for hw exchange

It took a few days and the problem appeared again. Also thinking it must be hardware.

not because of next business day support, but after answer, that touchpad is faulty even in BIOS, technician is coming to repair hw without any problem.

Jennifer - I continue to have this problem. Stopped writing about it because it seemed to be working better, but I think that was wishful thinking. Now at times unusable.

Works fine with the stick (or whatever that is called between G and H - I'm blanking) as well as with external mouse.

It looks like it may simply be a faulty trackpad - hardware issue. How can I get this fixed.
