I'm real happy. Last year I left it fully charged in the laptop, and after 4 months on non-use, the battery was still fully charged! Can't really guarantee anything, but they have a three year warranty.
You can buy batteries from anyone. I have been successful with non-Dell batteries from Amazon and eBay. Costs are much lower than official Dell units, $20-30. I have had several that lasted longer than the factory battery

Sorry for the delay. I am trying out Win 10 in a virtual machine and it's not yet ready for prime time!!!
The best one I have gotten was a 9-cell for the E1705 about 2 years ago. Price has dropped from $27 to $20:
