Hi Emanuele,

Also had this issue come up with rapid screen flashing, seems to be a bad driver. Resolved by uninstalling the Intel HD 4000 device (and removing the driver) and installing a legacy driver located here:

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Just like to add my voice.  Screen started flashing after carrying out the recent update - restored to before update - OK.

Is this update needed for W10?

I resolved simply by removing the driver and doing a windows update.

If I decide to risk that update again, I'll try the link. I guess I would have to use the version : Update Package for Microsoft Windows...thanks!

FYI - Investigated further and found the following:

Hardware installed: nVidia Quadro K3000M

Dell Update currently suggests:

nVidia update of 6/2/2013 - I have tried to install this quite a few times and it has never taken.

Intel HD4000 of 11/6/2015 - it is this update causing the screen to flash.

Reinstalled all video drivers from the 'My Support' pages and now OK.

Thank you.

I've been having this issue for about a month with a precision m6700.  In my case, the issue is always with the Nvidia driver.  About a month ago, Dell came out and replaced the motherboard and video card but the laptop had the same issue immediately after the repair.

One thing I noticed is that if I open the Nvidia control panel and change the color from 32bit to 16bit on the resolution tab, the issue goes away.  This makes it easier to troubleshoot.

The second time this happened, I uninstalled the intel driver as mentioned in this thread then installed the one from dell support page but that didn't help.  As soon as I change the color to 32bit, it flickers right away.

The Nvidia driver tends to update itself and causes the problem right away so check the install date of your Nvidia driver to see if it was installed on the same day you started having this issue.

The last time this happened, I uninstalled all Nvidia drivers and installed the one from dell support page.  That did the trick but somehow today the driver updated itself and the problem came back.

This time, I uninstalled all Nvidia software, removed dell command update, removed intel updater, and restarted.  Somehow the computer installed version 353.30 after rebooting.  I changed the color back to 32bit and all is good so far.  If the issue comes up again, I'll probably install the driver from dell support again.

In my case, the Dell System Update suggested a driver for the NVIDIA Win7/Win8 Drivers (64-bit) for Quadro K5000M.  I installed it and got a bad blinking screen.  I managed to do a system restore in between the blinking.  However, it might have been easier to reboot into safe mode on hindsight.  I think the problem is that my graphics adapter is actually the K4000M.  I can't believe Dell is recommending the wrong updates.  It claims to be scanning my devices, so why does it get it wrong?  This is just terrible.  Also their chipset driver won't install because the digital signature is invalid.  I've had better luck with the other computers I am responsible for that I never do updates on.  I mean, really, their tool is DOING MORE HARM THAN GOOD.

Same issue with M6700.  I manage to stop the flashing by going to Computer/Manage/Device Manager/Display Adapters/NVDIA Quadro K4000M/Properties/Driver/Roll Back Driver.

Flashing stops immediately.  Unfortunately it reoccurs when the driver gets updated.  My driver version (good one) is Date 3/12/2015, Version 10.18.13.5456
