Inspirion 15 doesn't give the prompt in asking whether it's mic or headphone

I have Inspirion 15 laptop from Dell and I'm having a problem with microphone. When I had this in Windows 8.1, it used to give a prompt asking whether it's a mic or headphone, but now since I upgraded it to Windows 10, it's not. I also noticed that sound recorder function under Windows accessories is gone under Windows 10. I can't do Skype with this missing microphone function. I'm confused whether this is Windows 10 problem or not.  I don't like this combo thing with mic and headphone. Help plz!!!!

do u have the Dell audio icon in ur tray on task bar? there is a bunch of things in them, and i did come across the option to get that pop up when u plug into jack.. under Advanced Settings

No, I don't see Dell audio icon in the sys tray on task bar.  How can I get that? thanks for your help!

I did reinstall the audio driver.  If there are more on this installation, pls let me know.
