XPS8900 AC511 Soundbar "driver issue"

Device Manager says -

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

The I/O device is configured incorrectly or the configuration parameters to the driver are incorrect."

Troubleshooter / audio playback says "there is a problem with driver, try reinstalling".

Tried driver update and reinstall, but no change.

Tried connecting soundbar to different USB ports (USB2 and 3) but no change.

The soundbar worked fine on initial but now doesn't make a sound. LED light on and volume scale appears when turning control knob.

Checked sound Ok from headphones, so seems to be soundbar only.

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem as DOUGXPS8900 describes.  I also have tried all the same fixes without success.  The sound is coming to the monitor as evidenced by watching a You Tube Video with the NVDIA Audio feature turned on, You are able to see the sound volume change with the playback but nothing goes to the soundbar

Any further suggestions as to what to try would be greatly appreciated.  Dell indicates there is no driver for this soundbar but upon attaching it to the USB port on the monitor it immediately gets flagged with a driver error label.

Join the club! After 3 hours on the phone with an incomprehensible CS agent (very heavy accent) who tried to sell me something (I think) I decided to try the soundbar on a couple of other computers--same issue. So, I returned it to Amazon on the assumption that the soundbar  is faulty. I'm trying another option--a Bluetooth speaker by Anker. It's unobtrusive (I hate big, clunky things) and sits very nicely on the monitor stand. Right now it's charging, so I'll know more when I actually try to use it.

While I have not been able to solve the AC 511 Soundbar issue I do know the problem is in the USB port on the back of the monitor that provides power and supposedly sound to the Soundbar, the monitor is receiving sound based on my research, the USB port however does not have the correct configuration to match the sound being sent from the computer, it is a USB sound port issue, there is nothing wrong with the Soundbar..  This is a known problem through numerous rounds with MS tech. support with the current status of "currently being assessed".  Hope your switch to a different speaker works, if you don't have to use the port on the monitor it may well work fine.

I tried bypassing the USB port on the monitor by attaching the sound bar directly to a USB port on the computer (tried both USB 3 and USB 2). Same problem. And, as I said, I couldn't get it to work on 2 other computers. I can only conclude that the sound bar itself is defective. Apparently, they made quite a few defective ones. Sounds like the little girl with the little curl in the middle of her forehead...

Anyhow, I have the Anker SoundCore speaker now. It's Bluetooth, and works just fine.

Yes, I too tried soundbar in every USB (2 or 3) on the box, to no avail. Got my old powered Dell speakers to work, not via the normal green socket on the back (which wouldn't recognise speakers) only via the headphones socket. Weird!

I also couldn't get soundbar to work with a laptop. Returned it as faulty for a refund (Amazon). Am now searching for non-usb "normal" speakers (i.e. with a separate power supply, so that I can get more than a squeak out of them!).

Thanks to those who replied. Sorry to hear you guys also had problems, but at least that bears out my theory that the soundbar is NFFP.
