(I've also found a few "How to fix display driver has stopped responding and recovered" videos that entail using "Regedit" and changing stuff in the registry, but that's even scarier!)
Does the fact that according to "Uninstall" showing no such "Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver" despite the numerous crashes and error msgs alluding to it's presence indicate that something went wrong w/ the "update" process (+ the attempted "solution" only made it worse)?
And, as seems to be the case, how do I uninstall it and re-install it if I can't find it on the system, despite the strong evidence that it is indeed there and NOT working?
In this case, it's a Dell Inspiron 1440...would the "crash reports" shed some light? I've got dozens; all either one or the other of this "9f" or "116" type, seen in these two examples:

The fact that there are literally THOUSANDS of "hits" Googling "Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver crashes", webpages on the topic under "Frequently Asked Questions", and tutorials and instructional videos about addressing the problem all w/o addressing the specific computer experiencing the issues tells us that it's a well-known software incompatibility/conflict across a broad range of machines and OS's, though, shouldn't it?
What else do we need to know that might be helpful? Despite my lack of success in solving this problem w/o having to humbly ask for HELP, generally speaking I'm not stupid and perhaps could even answer questions directed towards solving the issue...Thanks.

Apparently you are running Windows 7 on some unnamed Dell PC. That's all we know.
