Will Precision T3500 Run Win 10?
Dell website says it wasn't tested and no win10 drivers will be developed. Is it safe to set up a dual boot and try win10 that way?

The T3500 doesn't need a lot of drivers as they are built into windows 8 and 10. These systems work fine with windows XP VISTA 7 8 10.
I find Zero Issues with ANY version of windows. If you are having a problem getting 10 to work Post here and we will help you.
Windows 10 Home is $120 windows 10 pro is $200
The OEM System Builder versions are less expensive.
The Main Driver you need is the Analog Devices Sound max driver.
The other thing you will want to do is get a Geforce 740 or 750TI video card.
For about the same amount of money you can even find T3500's on EBAY etc with Windows 7 for less than the cost of windows 10 alone.

The other issue with windows VISTA or 7 or 8 or 10 is that the older DirectX 9 and Directx 10 drivers are missing. This means if you have an older Video card you must use a legacy driver and install DOTNET to get it working. If you update the video card to a DirectX 11 card this is not an issue.
For OLD cards you have to install Legacy Direct play and DX9 and DX10 drivers from the Directx June 2010 patch.
You download the file and extract to a folder then run DXSETUP.EXE as administrator.
Before previous drivers will work in windows7 or 8 or 10 you have to enable legacy features like DOTNET 2.0 3.5 and Directshow. You must then install DIRECTX JUNE 2010 DRIVERS by downloading the file and extracting into a folder and running DXSETUP.exe.
Directx June 2010 which you download and extract to a FOLDER then run DXsetup.exe as administrator.

Windows will also not install CCC and the Legacy Driver.
When installing the AMD Catalyst Driver for Windows® operating system, the user must be logged on as Administrator, or have Administrator rights to complete the installation of the AMD Catalyst Driver.
CCC is a Dotnet application and therefore will not install without DOTNET 4.0 or better installed.

No that will not work. Windows 10 is a free upgrade for win 7 & 8.1 users and you must replace your current operating system or buy win 10 for $150-200. As a windows 10 tester and user, I recommend you stick with your current OS especially if you have windows 7. Windows 8.1 users who have Dell approved models might want to upgrade later on in the year. You have until July 29th 2016 to get the free upgrade.
Since Dell does not provide drivers for that model you would have to depend on win 10 for the right drivers. Wait until you replace the computer to get windows 10.

Hi There
I have Dell Precision T3500 running Windows 7 Professional, I have tried 3 times now to upgrade to Windows 10 but it runs for several hours and then reboots back to Windows 7, on the one occasion I did see a message before it did this it was something along the lines of not compatible software.
Second attempt I completely wiped the hard drive and reinstalled the original OS from the DELL disks, this ran for 8 hours, being stuck at 99% for 6 of these and then rebooted back to Windows 7, I did not see the reason or end of installation process.
Third attempt I did all the Windows 7 updates first and tried again, ran overnight but the same reboot to Window 7 in the morning. Again I did not see the reason or end of installation process.
Literally run out of ideas now, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Malcs

I have same problem. I tried many times, upgrade to windows 10 waste allot of time without success. After install I did get a screen about correcting problems and shutdown. I tried both, then boots to windows 7. No other messages.

I tried several times with the free updates, no luck, everything I have read and every solution I tried did not work including completely starting from scratch and creating boot disks.
Has anyone tried upgrading from the paid version?

Try with Media Creation Tool, select option to delete all data, you should have clean installation of f Win 10.

We have three T3500 machines and they all are now running Win10. The only issue I've experienced is that I no longer have access tot he RAID controller. With Win7 we had a storage manager that would allow you to manage the RAID (create new volumes, decide which disks were part of the RAID etc). It was an Intel product... Rapid Storage Technology, or Matrix Storage Manager (I can't honestly remember anymore. That system was wiped out when upgrading to Win10 and now I can't manage the RAID. I'm actively looking for a solution... so if anybody has ideas I'd really like to know! Our I/O speeds tot he 'C:/' drive is very slow now... (~10MByte/sec). I'm thinking about getting an add-on RAID controller card...

I have a T3500 without the Dell-provided Windows install disks, so I am trying to install from Windows 7. It says that I am missing drivers for the hard drives. Has anyone seen this before? I'm going nuts trying to download drivers for the Intel ICH10R chipset...

Dell T3500s will happily upgrade to Windows 10. Then, when the big yearly update automatically downloads and installs, which you cannot control, they bomb, leaving your disk in a raw state from which there is no return. DELL does NOT support Windows 10 on these machines. It happened to me TWICE before I wised up.

Yep. I already had the A17 BIOS installed. I broke the existing RAID, installed a Crucial MX500 500GB SSD ($68) along with a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter, set the SATA mode to AHCI & used the Windows Media Creation Tool, download 1809 & installed using the product key on the case. The only odd thing was after the first reboot the setup started again. So I cancelled & pulled the USB flash drive. If you have a Radeon card be sure to hit up AMD site.

Also go into the BIOS:
Settings / General / Boot Sequence
Uncheck:
Onboard or USB Floppy Drive & USB Device
Otherwise when you attempted to boot up with a USB drive plugged in you may get a flashing _ for forever.

Clean install of windows 10 1809 works fine on the T3500.
