Delays in build aren't uncommon with near-end of life systems like this one (there is a generation change in Intel CPUs that's starting to arrive) -- and of course with brand-new models. They should be able to explain the delays, though.
I agree, delays happen, it's the lack of clear communication as to WHY it is taking so long that's the problem. A 6th gen core i7 processor though, shouldn't be an issue. Perhaps the gtx 960m, maybe the touch screen display, who knows!?
There does appear to be a shortage of 6th gen Intel core i7 chips and the shortage won't be resolved until at least the end of November. Dell hasn't stated that there is a problem but others have.
Agree with you totally! I ordered on 10/15 and was to have delivery on 10/26 (today) though online it stated that 'pooter was still "in production." Turns out there was a glitch in inventory and I could have waited forever to get some notification that that machine would never be delivered. Finally had to cancel that order and re-order the exact same item - now mysteriously available. All this via an associate who could barely be understood through her very heavy accent.
Dell used to be so great for products, deliver and customer service - now the last two really stink. Sure hope the machine, if I finally get it, works well.
The same thing has been happening to me. I finally received a call late this morning and am promised a follow up tomorrow. I'm really hoping that happens.
UPDATE: Last Friday I finally received correspondence from Dell. I was told that there is a shortage with the 128GB SSD. They don't expect to have them in stock until 11/23... Then there's build and ship time, so I may not see my order until sometime in December. Two months after I ordered....
At least you get an update, I have had my computer on order in one way or another since 08/28/2015 and dell has only called me once and that was to tell me that they had no news on my computer.
I'm waiting on the same part for nearly the same laptop. I ordered just a few days after you. I'm currently watching another name brand site which has an almost identical spec laptop, but they are having a shortage of UHD displays. Unlike Dell, however, when they run out of something, they take the model off of the site until they can actually meet their delivery claims. If the UHD models show up, Dell will be losing my business.

Wait till you get your system, then you'll wonder why you were running around to even get this !

I am a very disgruntled customer right now!
