Thank you for the answer. I find hard to believe that is something with power settings, because it only happens when it gets back from sleep. After rebooting it goes back to normal.
It's a Precision M4800 with a NVidia Quadro running Windows7 x64
it is possible that updating the BIOS may have changed settings, most of our system BIOS have power settings, you may want to check what the settings are.
You may also wish to check Windows power settings as well as they may possibly changed. Start, control panel, power options power plans.
If you continue to have difficulties please reply with the model of notebook that you are using, the version of Windows and I will be happy to help further.
I am researching this and should have more information later. Did you notice any problems prior to updating he BIOS to A14? Was there a specific issue that you where trying to correct by updating to A14?
Hi. I did have one. If the cable of my USB3 HDD External Reader was connected to the laptop when I switched the hdd on, it was not detected. It was only detected after switching the hdd on and plugging in the cable, in this order. The change log of the bios apparently mentioned these kind of problems with usb3 devices, but i'm still having that issue.
I researched this a little bit and found little information regarding USB or wake / resume issues for rev A14 of the system bios.
I suggest checking the following BIOS settings,
System Configuration / USB Configuration and make sure that all items are checked (enable boot support, enable external USB port, and enable USB3.0 controller).
Performance / make sure that Intel SpeedStep is checked and C-States control / C states is checked
Save settings and check performance.
Once back in Windows (assuming that you are using Windows 7) edit MSCONFIG to make sure that speedstep is working correctly.
Choose Start/Run and type "cmd" in the search box to bring up the Windows command prompt.
Type "Msconfig" at the command prompt and hit Enter to bring up the system configuration utility.
Click on the Boot tab and then Advanced options. Make sure the Number of processors is enabled and that the maximum number of processors (4) is chosen from the drop-down list:
Please let me know if the processor continues to operate at low speed after resuming from standby.
All suggested settings were already properly configured. Apparently this situation is worse when the laptop is running on battery. Besides being extremely slow, the battery drains very fast, but the Task Manager doesn't report high CPU activity. The lag is so severe that sometimes the laptop beeps when I scroll down a page.
It still doesn't recognize my external HDD when the USB 3 cable is already plugged in on both ends before I switch the USB reader on.
I am experiencing the same boot issue where if put on standby with the AC adapter plugged in, and resuming with the adapter not plugged in the processor speed is limited to 0.78ghz. This is very embarrassing when in a conference room full of executives.
I had other issues that drove me to upgrade my bios. I have been patiently waiting for an update, but I have seen no such update. Why was thread abandoned back in Nov if no resolution was made?

Hi. I'm sorry for the delay, but I've been out.

I'm lost and frustrated. Thanks for the feedback

I wonder too. This is no way of treating customers.
