A stuck dark pixel can sometimes be exercised to correct it. First, run the U2715H LCD Conditioning, page 43, in the monitor OSD (On Screen Display) -Others for 15 minutes to see if it corrects it. If not, * Download/save smartUDPixel.exe to your windows desktop * Turn off all Windows power management and screen savers * Run the software * Click and drag the blinking box to cover the pixel * Let it run for 15 minutes to see if it can unstick the pixel
I would extend the time it runs to 30 minutes. But from a warranty point of view, they were correct. To justify a monitor exchange, the monitor would have to show 6 or more dark pixel defects.
Dell has decided to make a 1-to-1 exchange for me, but only for a refurbished monitor.
I paid S$799 for a refurbished monitor -.-
I understand the policy of the monitor being > 30 days old, thus I am only eligible for refurbished, but the thought of selling a perfectly dead-pixel free 24" monitor to something more premium UltraSharp with 1 dead pixel after < 3 months of use just stings.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for your suggestion. It is definitely more constructive than the ones given to me by the Singapore Technical Support Team.
Will try it out and let you know the outcome.

btw Chris, what do I do, if smartUDPixel doesn't work?

But why 6 or more? Isn't 1 enough to prove that it is faulty?
Will extending the runtime to 30min fix the issue for sure?
If not guaranteed, are there other solutions I can try?

Because that is policy Dell engineering dictated. Nothing is for sure concerning bringing back a stuck pixel. Those are the only one I know.

the dark pixel is still there.
Didn't work. Kept it on for a good 40minutes.
Disappointed with Dell's product. Paid a bomb for something defective, and sold off a perfectly free of dead pixel monitor. Well done to self.
