I know this is a very late reply, and I hope you have long ago solved your problem. Hopefully this will answer the same question for somebody else.
I have an Inspiron 9100 with built in Bluetooth. I bought a Microsoft Bluetooth Intellimouse yesterday. I took it out of the box, inserted the batteries, clicked the bluetooth icon on the DELL, clicked show devices in range, and my mouse was there and working. Took around 1 minute, with most of the time being connsumed by taking the mouse out of its box.
Then just installed the mouse drivers to that I could use the scroll wheel and extra buttons. (Now, my question is why does DELL media experience open up when I try to scroll right with the tilt wheel... I shall post that in another forum...)
I just got the same mouse a few days ago ... I didn't install the microsoft drivers for the bluetooth radio, and the mouse worked fine in basic mode right out of the box.
I have had a few situations where the mouse stopped responding and I had to take the batteries out of the mouse in order to get it to respond again. Kind of annoying, but it's only happened a few times.
I installed the latest version of MS Intelipoint software so I could use the extra buttons. That did have the side effect of screwing up the touchpad software ... so I re-installed the alps touchpad drivers and both drivers co-exist fine.
I kind of wish the microsoft bluetooth software worked with the dell bt radio, because there's a user interaction difference and it causes some problems with troubleshooting.
