Hi please PM us the system tag# as requested, we will see into it.
Only if the drivers are installed the device manager will list both the Intel HD and the NVidia (if opted at the point of sale) , even if the intel drivers are not installed it will show generic display drivers under display adapters.

Thanks for writing to us. 

You can check the same by going to device manager, expand the display adapters, it will list you both the onboard and the discrete card. 

You can update the video drivers and observe for any changes .,

Thank you for helping! The fact is that I actually did check the device manager and found the intel hd graphics drive was displayed in the list. But I wonder if that happens only if I installed the driver instead of actually having the graphics card physically installed in the laptop.

If you mean try to install the nVidia driver on a system having only Intel video, it won't - it will fail with a "no nVidia hardware detected".

Thank you for your help but no. I expect that there is only one NVDIA graphics card on the laptop.
