Yeah, mine does that too, usually when I come out standby. I've got the v42.58 drivers from Dell, not sure if that's relevant...

Its not got anything to do with drivers. Its the LCD inverter board being a bit silly. Happens on my C600 a fair bit but I cant be bothered replacing it. Its probably just the backlights on the LCD being a bit stupid ...
