Problem with the UXGA 15 ' Screen of an Inspiron 8100

Hello, My devices : Inspiron 8100, 60 Mhz refresh rate, 1280 x 1024 pixels, True colors 32 bits, Geforce2 32 Mb, I bought an Inspiron 8100 to Canada and since, I got sometimes horizontal parasites lines. They appear more often when I start the computer rather during the use. After it's impossible to delete the lines. They appear without doing something. And they are enough troublesome to prevent the use of the laptop. As the problem is irregular, it's difficult to surround the origin of it. You are going to tell me I'm not serious, but to recover a good display, I'm used to put the computer on the table fortement strongly. It makes me thinking about a unstable connection problem with the graphic card or other device related to the display. Do you have any ideas about the problem and its fixing ? Did somebody have the same problem ? How did you fix it ? Thanks by advance whatever you have advices and you know the solution . Cyrille

From your description of the problem it could be one of three things, the video card, the LCD, or the ribbon cable (the cable that connects the video card to the LCD). If this is happening when you move or adjust the lid then it is most likely the ribbon cable which is fairly easy to replace.
