Please see the post at the top of the forum. This describes a problem with USB through the Port Replicator. Please follow the instructions there and see if it corrects the problem.
Come on Rollie! I tried that bogus fix before as many others have stated I do not have that exact entry but I turned off the ones that were similar. I tried it in different iterations I tried wiping out all the usb drivers and letting 2000 reinstall them. I tried new drivers from Dell. Etc.... Etc...
The list goes on and on. Now how about a real solution to this obvious problem rather than parroting an answer that does not work for a large number of your customers?
Unbelievable. When I encountered this problem, I called DELL to see if it was a known issue. I was assured that it was not. They even sent me a brand spanking new APR, with the same results. Now I find out that they knew about this when they sold the darned thing? It appears to me that the moderators have had nothing to say on the subject since FEBRUARY, so I will ask the rest of you:
I tried this fix of disabling USB 2.0. It worked until the first time that I undocked, then went right back to the old problem. I immediately checked to see if USB 2.0 had somehow become re-enabled, and it had not. I also have tried re-booting the system several times, to no avail. Any other suggestions?
If you want a workaround that works, I bought a USB 2.0 angle connector cable from Newnex that plugs into the laptop USB port, which bypasses the port replicator/ D/Dock. I have no affiliation with this company; I just bought this thing at the recommendation of someone else on the Dell forum and it works like a charm. Not that this makes me any less unhappy with Dell, but I have a Palm Tungsten T3 that can cradle-sync with my D600 laptop.

Here is my device manager screen for USB devices:
What should I disable? The Enhanced host controller can not be disabled if removed it is automatically reinstalled.
Thanks!

Well you could do what I am doing which is giving up. Nothing I have tried works and Dell is mum on what the solution is.
So you win.
