Guess I'll stick with A06, thanks for the warning. Hope you can reverse it.

Would be really nice with a response from Dell...

additional info:

this seems to be very closely tied to the graphicscard.

in the past ive done several biosupdates to my 8600 all without any issues whatsoever.

but a07 made win xp bluescreen at boot, turned out i had to boot in safemode, then uninstall the ati driver, then boot up in normal mode, then reinstall the driver.

It looked like that worked, but Im getting strange behaviour from the gfx card (several refreshs /black screens, etc. and so far on one occasion a blue screen)

There is definately something rotten in A07 STAY CLEAR!

I think it must be a more specific problem than just the 8600, BIOS A07 and the Radeon 9600 as I have the same spec and not had any problems. How odd.
What video drivers are you using kurgan.dk ?

You are blaming the A07 BIOS version while using hacked drivers??!!  OOkkaayyy.

ive been using 'hacked drivers' as you call them since a02 or a03, there has never been any issues until now.. So yes I blame it on the bios update...

in reality all the dhmodtool does is add 9600 mobility to the list of 'acceptable devices'

on a second note your (joke?) suggestion is spot on since the dell provided drivers are so outdated, my machine is spewing dust out all fans when they are installed...

Note To Dell:  Please make sure you test any and all BIOS and software updates against all hacked versions of drivers....
