Dell wireless miniPCI 1450 and AIM connection

Question

I just recently purchased an inspiron 9100 notebook and I am really happy with it except for the wireless card that came with it. When I am trying to use AIM with it, AIM loses connection every two to five minutes. I don't notice it from any other applications so far, but still this one problem is enough to really upset me. It makes AIM almost totally unusable. Does anyone else have this problem? Its not the router I'm connecting to because it happens all over campus and in the dorm. I have friends who have different cards and they don't have the problem at all. Is there some way to fix this or do I have have to buy a different wireless card? As it is I'm about ready to throw dell's out the window. Shame since I paid $60 for it. If I do replace it, is there any way to just return the wireless card and get my money back for it? Thanks

So I did a bunch more testing and I found out that my computer only works with the newest version of AIM. It even started having the disconnect problem with wired ethernet. I didn't want to use the newest AIM version before because I didn't want to have to pay for the newest version of DeadAIM. Using the newest version was the only way to actually get it to work though, so I guess its worth buying the newer DeadAIM. Just wanted to let people know in case anyone else experiences the same problem.

Also, try upgrading the drivers/fireware on your router. You should be able to get the lastest drivers off of the manufactuer's (sp?) website.

The problem occured with every router I could connect to, all different types. Thanks for the suggestion though.
