Keep an eye on Intel's release of the 7th generation Core CPU (Kaby Lake). ALL the system manufacturers will have new lineups released shortly after Intel releases the new generation of CPU.
Intel hasn't committed to a release date but they're due this Fall according to most of the rumor sites.
Intel hasn't published a release date, but expect Kaby Lake to arrive for consumer systems first -- it is the first generation of Intel CPUs that won't run anything older than Windows 10, so business models may hold on with Skylake and Broadwell CPUs a bit longer.
I read a news on the web about Intel already sent 7th generation to manufacturer like Dell. So maybe we can expect new laptop very soon (before the end of the year).
You won't see a GTX980 in an Inspiron -- the GPU draws too much power. You're more likely to see one of the lower-end GTX10xx series, or a derivative thereof.
I ordered the new Inspiron 15 7000 series (i7-7500u); it is Kaby Lakes. Should be here within the next 2 weeks according to the site. Only thing is I couldn't find any memory listed for it.
Weird if it's this one since it has the same specs. I think the version in the link is a chinese version since people in asia like weird design.
But I think that if Dell finally announce a new inspiron 15 7000 gaming series before the end of the year (I hope since I'm waiting forever...) it will get kaby lake and maybe GTX 970m or gtx 980 for the same price as now.

Ok like a GTX 1060. I'm ok with this.
Saw that they are starting releasing new laptop in Malaysia (15 5000), but nothing about worldwide release of new laptops (5000, 7000, gaming, etc.).

That's probably it. It is interesting to say the least, however that price (yeah I know its AU dollars but still) is way to high.
