Windows 10 upgrade no scanner support

After upgrading to windows 10 this Dell computer cannot not print to two HP AIO. and will not connect to the scanner for the epson AIO.

Model: Inspiron 3647 Windows Home Premium

I have tried two HP: deskjet f-4480 and Officejet 3830 (new)

And a new Epson workforce wf-2760

The computer has all Dell and windows updates. Including the latest BIOS.

===============

I repeatedly (at least 8 times) ran the HP setup, updater, and wizards from the disk (new) and from the website.

Removed all software and folders.

Try to connect wirelessly: no joy.

The printers are found but the installations do not complete.

In ALL instances the printer is recoginzed and the software gets installed but the computer will not connect at the end.

The windows error is "driver not installed" yet it is and the printer is displayed in the device manager, but will not respond.

HP print and scan doctor, "The full software solution for you product is not installed on the computer."
went round and round with this 5 times

wireless: the printer is found but: unsuccessful network installation

wired: I connect the cable and the wizzer continues, and "printer connection unsuccessful"

Windows update tries to install a driver for the HPs and fails.

We have tried multiple USB cables with both printers.

So, i thought it was a problem with HP and bought an Epson. Using the latest drivers and software the printer installs without issue. But the scanner is not found and will not respond.

There are thousands of messages everywhere about these issues from the past year. I have tried dozens of suggestions.

WIA is auto and started.

What needs to be installed/enabled to get the scanner to work?

I have three of these computers and the others have had no problem.

Uninstall ALL scanner/printer software (using Programs).  Check the device manager (use the "show hidden devices" to make sure you see all the hardware and REMOVE all references to scanners.  Then reboot the system and try the install for the scanner you want to use.  Chances are there's a problem with scanner software that was already loaded when you did the upgrade.

Thank you for your response.  As you can read in my post i did all that multiple times. Full uninstall, delete folders, search registry and delete all HP stuff. No joy.

And the Epson printer is found but the scanner is not.

Did you check through the device manager (including clicking the "show hidden devices" box)?

If so to no effect -- time to try a clean install of Windows 10.
