It sounds like in some time or another the system board may have been replaced on the model and the original service tag may not have been inputted on the new board.  If you received the notebook with the BIOS password already set  I would have to suggest contacting the persons or business that you received the system from and asking them for the password.

The following document might be of some help regarding the password.

Dell technical support can help with issues like this but with a system that age, it would be a fee based call and they would ask you to verify that you were the original owner before they could help with the master password.

Terry, thanks for the replay.   I only want to update the Service Tag Information.  I know that are some software solutions that should help me with that.   How I can obtain that software?  I can provide a picture of the screen where shows that the Service Tag is empty and a picture of the label at the bottom of the unit.

I try to work with the previous owner of the unit and he does not have any other information and was not aware of the issue.

If I need to contact Dell and pay for the repair will cost me more than the unit.   Any help is appreciated.

I will be shooting you a friendship request so that i can get your information on the notebook.  I can't promise a lot here but I can take a look and see if anything can be done.
