Dell Inspiron Laptop not turning on

Hi guys,

My dell laptop just got turned off all of a sudden a few hours ago.It was running just fine and I was running some films on it.Suddenly it got turned off and i saw the lights of the adapter has also turned off.I plugged it again tightly to the power source and then saw it adapter indicator lights got turned on.But as soon as i connected it with the laptop it again got turned off..I tried with a different charger and the result is same.

Can't make out whats the issue.

If you guys know anything about the issue, please do share.

Hi JOYDEEP001,

What is the exact system model? Are you using the original Dell Power Adapter?

Please check if there is any damage on the machine. Check if all the ports on the machine are fine or misaligned. Sometimes if the pins in the USB ports are touching each other, they are known to cause many issues on the machine.

Try powering on the machine only with the battery connected, without the adapter. If it turns on, the dc-port needs to be replaced.

If the issue is still the same, I suspect the motherboard might have failed and needs to be replaced.

If the system is under warranty, write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name, Phone, Address and Email). If there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

Let us know if you have any other queries.

Laptop model is Inspiron N5010.And yes i am using original Dell power adapter.

I have tried powering the machine without the adapter but to no avail(the battery maybe down too).

And the system is not anymore under warranty.

Hi JOYDEEP001,

Thank you for the update.

Based on your description, I would isolate the fault to the dc port / motherboard. The latter would be the first part to be replaced.

As the warranty has expired, you could contact our team to get a quote for paid service call - link provided in my previous post.

My personal suggestion is that you invest your money on a new machine, as the replaced part would only carry a 90 day warranty.
