Geforce 750ti and Dell P2317H

Question

I have been using HDMI to connect my P2317H and a Geforce 745.  That setup is working.  I just received a new XPS 8910 with a Geforce 750ti.  There was a mini HDMI to HDMI adapter in the box.  Using that adapter, I connected the mini HDMI on the 750ti to HDMI on the P2317H.  The system boots but the screen is black. Why doesn't mini HDMI to HDMI work?  If I use a DVI to HDMI adapter to connect the 750ti DVI to the monitor HDMI, will that work?  Or is there something else I need to try?

I bought a mini HDMI to HDMI cable and got rid of the adapter that came with the system.  That solved the problem.
