Placement of Memory in Dell R 720 servers and Processor speed

Question

I am trying to setup a Dell Poweredge R 720 server( Dual Intel Xeon E5-2640 2.5 Ghz 6-Core CPU’s)  with 48Gb Ram (12 x 4Gb PC3L-10600R). My question is regarding the placement of RAM in the DIMM slots for maximum performance. I believe this Dell R 720 server has 24 sockets (slots). So each processors is allocated 12 sockets. The 12 sockets are then divided into 4 memory channels, meaning each channel has 3 sockets (slots) allocated. ( White, Black and Green coloured) I want to use 48 GB (12 * 4 GB RAM) in this server. It would mean i will use 6 sockets per processor. In each individual processor it has 4 memory channels. From the memory configuration guide i can see that single rank RDMIMM can be populated on 3 sockets per channel. So i can fill up channel CH0 and CH1  CH2 and CH3  white sockets  on for CPU 1 and CPU 2. The remaining 2 DIMMS will be used on Black Sockets for each CPU for Channel 0 and 1 for CPU1 and Black socket for CH2 and CH3 for CPU2. ( Processor 1 - A3, A4, A2, A1 and A5 AND A6 Processor 2- B3, B4, B2 , B1 AND B7 AND B8) Please correct me on this and let me know that i will be utilising the full potential of the memory and processor by having this placement. Second part of the question is related to the processor Dual Intel Xeon E5-2640 2.5 Ghz 6-Core. This processor has a memory bandwidth of 42.6 GB/s. Does that mean the processor can support maximum RAM of 42.6 GB/s for the 4 channels allocated on the motherboard. This cant be right as this server can support upto 384 Gb. Can someone explain where im getting it wrong on this. Thank you

Robert, For BETTER  performance is it ideal having 48 Gb ( 6 x 8 Gb) - 3 white sockets filled with 8 Gb for  each CPU  or  48 Gb ( 12 x 4 Gb) - 4 white sockets and 2 black sockets RAM in for each CPU
