Precision m6600 laptop - cursor jumps around on the screen by itself

reformat and reinstall, connect to the Dell support and got the latest drivers. all installed properly yet the mouse cursor still jumps around on the screen. it's virtually useless as it is. I'm sure there is a fix for this?
