I don't know if this is coincidental but I'm experiencing increased cooling fan noise since I updated the BIOS.   I also have issue with viewing content of My Computer.  For example, it does not show C:\ drive, as well as my network shared drives.

Are you guys experiencing the same also?

I just spoke with Dell Support. They indicated that the BitLocker issue is known and they are working on a new BIOS (I don't know why they are leaving the faulty BIOS live on their site - BIOS 1.15.4). Their solution was to A) Wait for the new BIOS B) Roll back to a December BIOS

This appears to be the same issue I had with the 7370. They released a new BIOS to fix the BIOS that broke the TPM/Bitlocker stuff.   I would ask if it is the same thing I saw.  The newest BIOS corrected the problem.

UPDATE: Worked with Dell Support yesterday. They acknowledged there is a problem with E7270/7470 BIOS Release 1.15.4

They have advised that a new BIOS should be released before the end of May (fingers crossed). The workaround at this point is to either decrypt the drive OR downgrade the BIOS (I do not recommend this).

I thought about how the TPM works with bitlocker and the BIOS being changed.  My process when we get these laptops is upgrade the bios and all drivers from the dell website.  After doing so, i change TPM version from 2.0 to 1.2.  Then i enable bitlocker.  Since this was already in place on the laptop, i thought maybe the TPM downgrade needs to be re-applied because it associates with the BIOS version.  Tested and does not work.  Since you are using a different model than I, I am unsure why it worked for you and not me.  I noticed that when i downgraded to BIOS 1.13.4, the TPM had to be turned on.  When i try to do this, the computer throws an error 0x80290300.

I just got off the phone with dell support and they think a motherboard replacement is what is needed.  Will update early next week.

Has the roll back to December BIOS ever worked for you guys?  It didn't work for me.  This condition is still occurring.

I went back to BIOS version 1.12.3 (December 23rd) and it still did not work.  I understand there where 2 bios versions in this month as well.

I am having a different (but possibly related) issue with this BIOS version. After applying this update, I cannot resume from standby. It will come up with a Critical_Process_Died BSOD. It does not even create a dump to do any real troubleshooting. Thankfully for me, I was able to roll back the BIOS, and have my problem resolved (for now). However, the ME Firmware EndUpdate part of the BIOS rollback fails with an error code (0x00002236), which may explain why rolling back didn't fix the Bitlocker issue for y'all.

At any rate, I am probably going to try reflashing this again tomorrow when I have time, and then contact Dell support if the issue persists. This BIOS update clearly has issues.

No, no such issue. But please don't change the subject. We need to stay focused on and to resolve the BitLocker issue here.

DELL, any feedback on the BitLocker issue?

I had both of my laptops finally serviced today by a dell technician.  He replaced both the motherboards in my E7470's and i was able to activate bitlocker on one of them (the one with BIOS 1.13.4 installed).  I purposely had one running BIOS 1.13.4 and the other running 1.15.4.  The one laptop running 1.15.4 showed the same error with the BIOS is incorrect, contact your manufacture.  I then tried to downgrade from 1.15.4 to 1.13.4 and once again the bitlocker crashes when i try to enable TPM since the firmware downgrade disables tpm to update the firmware

A BIOS update to 1.15.4 is still needed to fix any laptop since you would need to downgrade to 1.13.4, have a dell tech come out and replace the motherboard with 1.13.4 installed for bitlocker to work.

We rolled back to bios version 1.11.3 and are having success.  No more bitlocker prompt at boot.
