Dell 3537 - Screen with green and pink tint

My laptop screen has green and pink tint all over it. It started about a month back and is increasing ever since. Moving the screen helps, but lately it has become difficult to get normal screen at any angle. Thanks for the help.

Hi ANON2K16,

Do you see the distorted colors from the time the system is powered on or does it occur at random intervals of time?

Restart and press f2 on startup to enter BIOS - check if the distortion is seen while in BIOS.

Check if the distortion is seen here - Run the LCD bist - Turn off the system and press and hold the "D" key + power button to turn on the system and it should run the LCD built in self test -  swivel the screen back and forth and see if the distortion is seen at all times - see this link for more info - http://dell.to/1SkXNrG

And here - Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.

Connect an external monitor and check if the distortion is seen on both the external display and the LCD.

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

I tried BIOS, it showed distortion but no other error was found. I also ran LCD BIST, during which there was no distortion on the screen. I ran the diagnostics as well. Again no error was found.

However, when I use VLC, sometime I get Display driver failure notice. I do not have external monitor so did not do that check. Do let me know what else I can do? Is is enough info for making a diagnosis?

Thanks

Hi ANON2K16,

Thank you for the update.

In your earlier response, you had mentioned that "moving the screen helps", do you mean that when you move the LCD back and forth, the distortion disappears? If yes, then I would suspect a loose LCD cable.

Try reseating the LCD cable and check - download the manual here - http://dell.to/29DfXXz

Also, the display driver failure error you encounter is an issue with the video card. So, update the BIOS from the support site above and then reinstall the video drivers and check.

If the system is under warranty, then we can setup a service call and get it fixed if required.

Let us know if you have any other queries.
