Greetings,
The power supply shipped with Inspiron 8600 is PA-10 or PA-12 90 W.
We do not recommend adapter more than 90 W.Please share the docking station model to check the compatible power adapter.

Well...
It says for use with adapter model PA-10 or PA-13. PA-13 is 130 watts. I'm wondering if this or higher is safe to connect right to the laptop.

Currently, PA-13 comes with 130 W adapter. Using adapter more than 90 W adapter may damage the motherboard.
Share the docking station model to share the compatible adapter.

Despite what you told me, I decided to connect a 130 watt adapter at my school to the laptop anyway, and it turns out, it worked. So that is part of my answer solved. I'll need to find out if a 150 watt adapter is compatible.
