Video Graphics Card driver problem Optiplex760 MT

Hi there,

i recently installed a nVidia quadro fx 1700 in my dell optiplex760 MT, i have installed windows 8.1 on it

but the correct drivers were not available on the windows so i downloaded the drivers from official website, when i installed the driver, some green and red lined blocks appeared on the screen. When i roll back the drivers the blocks disappear.

can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.

It appears that you have solved the issue through your own troubleshooting. You tested the newest Nvidia driver which showed the issue while an older driver did not, so the fault is with the newer driver, not the video card or the operating system. All you can do is wait for Nvidia to come out with another driver to test.

Hi DELL-Chris M ,

as i told before, the drivers that were originally installed by windows were not accurate, these are just "microsoft standard display" drivers. i can not run games properly on these drivers, videos do not play smoothly and the windows is a bit laggy on these drivers. But when i install drivers from Nvidia the windows and videos run smoothly and the also works fine the only problem is the blocks

The Quadro and its drivers were not meant for gaming. A GeForce video card and its drivers are written for gaming. I would test the FX 1700 and those Nvidia drivers in another desktop computer and see if the block issue follows the video card.

The FX1700 is End of life End of support so the current NVIDIA drivers will not work AND auto detect will not install drivers. 340 is the last release. You also have to install Directx 10 via the June 2010 patch.
You download the file and extract to a folder and run DXSetup.exe as administrator.

I have tried these drivers before and I already have dx10 installed. If i would have downloaded the latest drivers, the setup would not have proceeded with the installation.

Thanks for your response.

You do not have the proper drivers either 32 bit or 64 bit and you do not have legacy directx 9 /10 installed.

Windows vista is directx 10,  windows 7 is directx 11,  windows 8 is directx 11.1  windows 8.1 is directx 11.2  windows 10 is directx 12.

By DEFAULT Legacy direct play is not installed.

Furthermore ELAM will prevent drivers or hardware working properly which means you must turn Secure boot OFF if that is an option in bios.

Only WHQL drivers work with 7 or 8 or 10.

Directx June 2010 which you download and extract to a FOLDER then run DXsetup.exe as administrator.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

in control panel, all control panel items,  programs and features.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh506443%28v=vs.110%29.aspx

Enable dotnet 2.0 3.5

enable legacy directshow.

Install Directx June 2010 Patch.

Legacy audio APIs such as DirectSound, DirectShow, and the waveOutXxx functions enable applications to get and set the video and audio streams.

Downloading Directx june 2010 does not install it.  You have to extract the file into a folder and then run DXSETUP.EXE as administrator.
