Dell WyseOS 8.3_012 printer redirection.

Hello,

I am an engineer on the Horizon View team at VMware.  I have a customer who has a SMB printer mapped to his W11B (5040).  This printer is not being recognized at the VDI VM.

This is what we are seeing from the agent side logs.

There is a lack of documentation online about configuring printer redirection for Wyse ThinOS 8.3_012. Can you let me know if this version of the ThinOS capable of passing a printer up to a guest os via thinprint? Can you also let me know if this client is supported with Horizon 7.0.1

If we connect this printer to a Windows client it is passed up to the VDI and functions just fine.  This tells me our agent is accepting thin print connections.

Maybe this document will help

Is this something Dell Wyse support can assist with if we call in?  If we use the Windows client the printer passes through as intended.

Yes it is.

Hi,

A possible reason for that behavior is a missing native driver to render the print jobs. This works only on Windows based clients. Consider to use a central print server with the full version of ThinPrint. This gives you a set of features for flexible mapping of client printers.

What was the solution for this problem? I'm in the exact same boat. We can map printers from windows devices though thinprint to VMs all day long, but from our WTOS 5040 and 5010 units will not do it at all ever... My dell/wyse reps don't seem to really know what to tell me.
