Which model computer?  Which ethernet card?  Which version of Windows?  Perhaps with some more information, someone may be able to help.

i'm running windows xp on a dimension 8250. Don't know which model ethernet card, but what I can tell you is I formatted 3 times and have never ran into this problem

Hey deeparise im having the same problem too. I just formatted my comp and now the ethernet controller no longer has drivers and can't run properly. The dell drivers cd or the windows 2000 cs don't seem to help this problem. I have a dell dimension L900cxe with windows 2000. I have no ethernet controller and no network card so i cant access the internet on my lan. If any1 can help please give me some advice.

General Aziz,

Since you have a different operating system and a different computer model than "deeparise", it might be better to start a new thread, rather than replying to this one.

Here is the complete list of Windows 2000 drivers for the Dimension L CXE series machines. You may need to register with Dell Support before you can access that link.

The most likely Ethernet adapter for your machine is the "CNET Pro200WL Ethernet Adapter". If that is not the adapter you have, you can locate the proper network adapter (Ethernet) driver for your system using the Downloads tab at the top of the Forum page, and your machine's Service Tag.

General Aziz,

The service tag for desktops is usually on the back of the enclosure. You can also view the service tag from the BIOS. The BIOS setup is entered on your machine by pressing the "Delete" key. Here's an illustration of the first setup screen.

thx for all the help guys. I actually didnt get to try the driver although that was definitly the solution. My brother got impatient and when i wasnt around he used the dell format disk. Now it loads with windows ME :( . Im building myself a new comp so I'll let him suffer with that crap box.
