I installed my new nVidia 5650...

Question

I ordered the ATI 9600, but they sent me the 5650 instead, so I decided to use that.  I performed the mod, but instead of one piece of .062 copper (which I didn't have), I stuck 2 pieces of .026 copper together with silver thermal compund in between them.  I installed the latest nVidia Forceware drivers (56.72 with Pieters modded .inf).  All I can say is, while the ATI may be a better card, this nVidia is worlds better than my previous 9000 32 Mb card and I'm quite happy.  Does anyone know if theres a tutorial or FAQ on the best settings for the nVidia control panel?

Congrats on the upgrade, You will be very pleased with the 5650s performance in games and Movie watching very very good card...I have yet to find a game the 5650 will not play well with in game settings to high or highest levels ..it is simply a great card, enjoy...

How do you install latest NVidia drivers on the notebook? I tried installing ones I download of nvidia site, and it woldn't stick :/ I am forced to use the one that dell has on the site.

You can't install the Nvidia drivers straight off the site, as mobile cards are no longer supported. But you can modify the Nvidia drivers with an INF from Pieter's site, a simple mod that enables them to be used with mobile Nvidia cards. See the instructions on said site.

N1539.........GeForce 5650 NV31 video card, 128MB

I was trying to get the ATI 9600 but they sent me the GeForce instead. My total price with shipping was $251.81, and it took about a week to get to me from the time I ordered it. If you order one remember that you will have to perform the thermal mod on it just like the ATI. I played Command and Conquer Generals with graphics set to high 1600x1200x32 and it was beautiful and fast, I played for like 4 hours with no problems.
