System restarts itself (Psched in Event Log)

Question

I have an Inspiron 8600 that I received about a month ago. Every once in a while the system will just restart itself for no reason. Sometimes I am doing something, sometimes it is just sitting there and restarts. One instance it was plugged in on my desk and had been sitting for a while while I was working on my other computer them all of the sudden restarted. Another time I believe I was on the internet and it restarted while I was looking at a page. Just yesterday I closed the cover to put it in standby and I heard it restarting. And today after I got home from work I opened the cover after I had put it in standby at work this afternoon and when I opened the cover it restarted. So there seems to be nothing common about why it is happening. I first noticed that my Bios version was 4 and the current release is 7, so I upgraded to 7 and will see if that helps.   I looked at the Event Viewer it has a entry of: Source: Psched Description: QoS [Adapter {7037841B-8A80-4340-B7B6-B046420F49E1}]: The netcard driver failed the query for OID_GEN_LINK_SPEED. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. This entry was made at the exact time of the last 2 restarts but I am not sure about the other 2 because I was not monitoring them. I have this entry at times the system did not restart so I am not sure if this is the reason or not, I did notice that when I just put my laptop in standby and came back to it that it had this entry but did not restart. Wow thanks for the quick reply. I checked that earlier and it is off. I am not sure if it was already off or if the BIOS update un-checked it. Is it on by default?? Thanks, Scott

Turn off the automatic restart (in the system applet;  uncheck the 'automatically restart') so you can see what causes the restart.
