OK I figured out that now if you kill Smartbyte through services it will stop your connection. However, if you just open the program and turn it off then you can test to see if it fixes your speed issue. It fixed mine so I just went into the control panel - Programs, and uninstalled Smartbyte altogether. Works fine now.

Success!  I reinstalled Windows.  Now getting download speeds of 130Mbps through the Wi-Fi using Edge.  Will tentatively try using Chrome later...

I am also facing same issue from day 1, even my laptop itself is very slow.

Configurations are very good - Core i5 7th gen, 8 GB RAM, 2 TB harddisk etc

I got Windows 10 pre-installed, but no CD to re-install it, how you have re-installed windows, and which version of windows you installed?

Hey, I just found solution, worked on my Inspirion 7570, maybe it will help you :)
Win + R -> type in "services.msc" -> turn off SmartByte Network Service
Before this I had 6-8 Mb/s now I have 320 :D

Did you figure out how to reinstall Windows? I too got mine from Costco. They have since taken it off their website. I wonder if this is why they stopped selling it?!!

I stopped that program but ultimately removed it and speeds are well over 250mb. :)

I have the same issue with my brand new Dell Inspiron 15.

I spent 4 1/2 hours with Dell warranty department trying to troubleshoot this very issue.  They remoted into my computer and did an exhaustive search.  The final result was that it is not a hardware issue, but rather a software issue.

Now for the fun part... the computer warranty does not cover software issues.  So, they said they can fix the problem but it will cost me over $300.00!!

What a joke this is.  Dell does not stand behind what is clearly an inherent issue with their product.

I wish I had never bought a Dell product.  And never will again...

Hi JovianPug,

Thanks very much for your post. Your method resolved the same problem of my brand new laptop Dell Inspiron 15 7000. After I disabled the "SmartByte Network Service" under "services.msc", the download speed changed from 8MB to a normal network speed 200MB.

This really worked....tried everythig else (disabling firewall, reinstalling firewall, Wireshark traces), for the past two days.  After turning off the SmartByte Network Service (plus setting startup to disabled), the download speed went from average 4.5mbs to 45mbs - like I'm paying for.

Now my kid can once again play Roblox on her own PC.

What on earth is this service anyway?  When I get two days of my life back, maybe I'll spend some time looking it up.

Thanks for the tip SmartByte.  but sadly it does not work for me, since I wiped the hard disk, clean installed Windows and did not even install SmartByte crapware.
