The Geforce 4 440 from the 8200 will not fit in your 8500 and will even be slower than your R9000 because it's a mobile version of the GF4 MX series whereas the 4200go is a mobile TI4200. The 4200go is an improvement over the Rad9000.
There are even more powerful options like the GEforce FX5650go or even better, the ATI Mobile Radeon 9600PT. However, these cards belong to the i8600 and get much hotter, so the i8500 shuts down because the GPU temp gets too high. However a mod can be done to these cards to keep them cooler, described on http://www.bay-wolf.com/8500videoheat.htm.
Like I said, search Ebay or call Dell Spare Parts. Go the the Dell site for the tel#'s. It's a hard card to find. You would have better luck getting the 4200go which is much cheaper ($140US I think)
edit: I think this post may have a 4200go to sell you. Good luck

Generic drivers from nVidia don't work straight away on mobile nVidia GPUs. They seem to install, but they don't. You have 2 options:
- download the Dell driver from support.dell.com (where you can get all the other drivers, too)
- download the generic driver from nVidia (56.72 at the moment) and get a modded inf file from www.laptopvideo2go.com. It is modded to make the installation routine also detect the mobile GPUs. This method has the advantage that you have up-to-date drivers, whereas the Dell drivers are still version 45.something.
On support.dell.com you can also get the service manual for your Inspiron under documentation. It describes how to replace components on your PC.

Is it worth it? YES. Not much I can't run with it.
First call Dell or search ebay for the card.
If you're somewhat of a tekki, install it yourself otherwise ask Dell or a friend.

Nice, I think I'm goin to do it! I have a couple more questions though:
Will the GeForce 4 from the 8200 series fit in my 8500? And does anyone know the part number that I need to order?
Thanks

Here's the catch dude: $$$. The 4 4200 was only 70 dollars whereas the 128 cards are 229.50 before buying all the necessary supplies to upgrade
But when I get some cash to do that, that's what I will do :)
