I play battlefield1942 on a regular basis on my 8500 at 1600x1200 resolution, medium detail settings and it works well enough. Not amazing but well enough considering the high resolution. All the other games work pretty well, I get around 60 fps avg in UT2003 at 1600x1200 at medium settings. I get around 90 fps in JK2 highest settings, 1600. About 110 fps in Q3 highest settings, 1600.
Try 3dmark2001se as the 4200 is a directx8 card and 3dmark03 tests dx9 more than dx8. I get around 9200-9300 in 3dmark2001se.
how do you guys get such high scores? i have tried different drivers, changes quality settings and i still only get around 7000 for 3d mark 2003. my rig is a 2.0 p4 inspiron 8500 with 1 gig of ram and a ti 4200.

I've been playing Medal Of Honor on it without a flaw... but I tried Battlefield 1942 and my system crashed !
So I guess it really is a problem of compatibility with that specific game.

Hi, I was running this game without problem last two months, and my config is Inspiron 8500 2Ghz, 768Mo DDRam, GeForce 4 4200 Go.
Are you using dell video drivers, or Terraphy one?: go for Terraphy...
