Technical has now referred me back to Sales, completing the circle. I am starting to lose hope that anyone can help me. Surely I didn't just spend $800 on a monitor that can never be used again if the power cord/AC adaptor fails, did I?
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have been dealing with Spare Parts. They keep sending me incompatible AC adaptors and power cords for the 2001FP. They have referred me to Technical Support in hopes that they could help me. I am currently working with them via email. I think the part # for the AC adaptor is R0423; not sure about the power cord. I guess I am surprised that this is so difficult. Could it be because the 2001FP is relatively new?
Sales says they don't have the parts I need. Technical apparently doesn't either, as they have twice referred me back to sales. It's hard for me to believe that Dell wouldn't have parts for a new product like the 2001FP. What else can I do?
The part number you listed R0423 is the correct part number for the AC Adapter. Edit your user forum profile and include your system service tag number so that I can see what part number and part they are sending out.
OK, I've made the service tag change. One note, I bought the 2001FP by itself, so it didn't have a service tag number. The number in my profile relates to a laptop that I bought about a year ago, for which I have no issues.
The portable systems tag will not give me the information that I am looking for to determine which part numbers were sent to you instead of the correct part. Do you know what the part numbers of the parts they sent you?
Well the part number R0423 is the correct part number for the ac adapter. Try calling the spare parts department again and give them the part number above. Explain to them that they have sent the wrong part to you a couple of times.
Well, apparently Dell doesn't have the part. I suppose I will have to research other ways to find a compatible AC adapter and power cord. Frustrating to see a $900 monitor rendered useless.
Seemingly nobody else carries a compatible ac adapter for this monitor. Surely there is a way to find it. I just can't believe that an ac adapter would be an irreplacable part. Does anybody have suggestions?
A very nice person (DaGeezerUS) on another Dell fourm gave this info which helped me out greatly, I did however still have a hard time getting anyone at Dell to help me. I did get my converter, it was the correct one and now my monitor is working fine. Here is the info he gave me....

saworth,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
This happened when you called in to the Dell Spare Parts Department at 1-800-372-3355? Are they now sending the correct parts that you need?

saworth,
No, they should still have the part numbers for the parts replacement. Let me know if they don't get it right for you.
