Hi Aal92,

Please share the operating system installed.

Please try to perform a clean install of the drivers for the graphics card. Refer to the link http://dell.to/1fERNL2 for step by step instruction on how to uninstall and install the video drivers.

Since the video card is not being detected, you may try these steps:

  • Turn On the computer. Press F2 when see the Alienware Logo.
  • On the BIOS, check under Discrete Video Card to have the NVIDIA Card.
  • Verify the Ac/adapter is 180 watts or higher.
  • Load Windows normally.
  • Try FN + F7 to switch from Integrated to Discrete.
  • Update the System Bios to last version.

You may refer to the link http://dell.to/GZnjop for more information.

Note: Before updating BIOS please ensure that:

  • *Battery is 10%> or >10% charged
  • *Battery charger should be connected
  • *No external devices (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) should be connected.
  • *All other programs should be closed and documents saved

Hope this helps!

Please feel free to reach out for further assistance.

Thank you very much!

I tried your first recommendation, reinstalling the drivers for the graphic card. I found out that the drivers for the NVIDIA GPU had misteriously disappeared, so i downloaded and installed them and now everything works fine. Thanks!

Dear Dell-Garima G,

I have the same problem with Aal92. My pc is Dell Vostro 5460, ubuntu base system. Now I'm using window 7.

My driver is NVIDIA Geforce. I don't know whether I can use your method to fix it or not. Kindly confirm. Thank you very much.
