Problem with AlienwareFX controller on windows 7

Trying to use the alienwareFX controller with a Tactx Keyboard on a non-alienware desktop.  I keep getting these error codes from the program:

System.Management.ManagementException: Provider load failure

   at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithExtendedInfo(ManagementStatus errorCode)

   at System.Management.ManagementEventWatcher.Start()

   at AlienLabs.AlienFX.DeviceDiscovery.Classes.DeviceWatcherClass.HidDeviceInsertedWatcher()

   at AlienLabs.AlienFX.DeviceDiscovery.ObjectFactory.NewAlienFXDeviceDiscovery()

   at AlienLabs.AlienFX.Tools.Classes.ObjectFactory.get_DiscoveryService()

   at AlienLabs.AlienFX.Tools.Classes.ObjectFactory.NewAlienFXDeviceRepository()

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and also upgrading via the website, but to no avail.  Any idea what to try next?
