I don't think there is a master password you can set in the bios to override the HDD password. If and when someone forgets there password you will need to call Dell tech support with all the info for the PC and who it is register to and they will give you a master password.

Make each user put his or her passwords in a Text file on a Floppy Diskette and keep them in a central location under lock, and filed by Service Tag Number

I've got a problem regarding my harddish which i use currently in a dell latitude C610 notebooks. but i sold it already except the harddrive, not knowing that my hard drive has been lock by that laptop. and when i use my hard drive in oter laptop which is an older one its being detected by the cmos but still it cannot be detected even by fdisk. i've tried to use an external or usb enclosure if it gonna work but still it is being detected as Dara-206000 but it cannot be detected by the system. i've tried many alternative ways to crack the password but still it is useless.

There are many problem the same as mine here in the philippines. so i wonder if it is possible if there are other ways to make my problem be solve in no time rather than calling the dell tech support in singapore or in other country. even our supplier here in manila cannot give any valid reason why they cant crack the password created by your products.

i dont know where to get a crack tools for this problem but the thing is that your company should provide a tools to resolve the problem regarding to password lock to the tech support here in the philippines or even the autorized distributor.

hope that you understand that we needed our files which is in this hardisk which is locked by your laptops model DELL LATITUDE C610

Thank you Very Much..

You are completely out of luck. Unless you get the C610 back, put the HDD in it and remove the password from the disk.

It may be well to remember that it is NOT locked by the Dell C610, but by the password you entered and failed to remove, and not the machine. Lay the blame where it belongs.

Right but because it was done on the C610 I believe you need that PC to remove it. I do not think there is any blame to be placed on any piece of hardware. The blame should be placed on the user for not remembering to remove the HDD password.
