Between the Dell Community and the internet search (excite.com), research on CS4205 including
http://www.cirrus.com/en/products/pro/detail/P146.html , and some pages from Dell on speakers for multimedia systems such as http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/acc/nmb605/en/specs.htm

I have figures which are 10K (10,000) ohms impedence, and 12K so I am proposing my own answer that the headphone jack on the I4100 is a 'high impedence' output.

In my Amateur Radio days, one had a choice between 8 ohms (speakers) and 47K ohms (high impedence) when matching circuits.

Thus I will not turn my little bitsy speakers (and internal computer board) into mush, but instead go with the Koss HD-30 (discontinued model) speaker system. Maybe 3 watts will be better than one and I can hear a little better. Maybe the 1 watt internal amplifier will be turned off and my machine will generate less heat (but I doubt it. :)

(you'll have to cut and paste that one together), also
