It's not possible with the video card that's currently in your notebook... your card has s-video-out only, and you're talking about video-in.
You'd have to buy an external video capture card... something like the ATI all-in-wonder cards (except I think those are only for desktops). Search the Inspiron - Video forum, and you should be able to come up with the names of a couple of cards that other Inspiron users have used.
It IS possible, but you need a few Products first. There are products that allow you to utilize your Firewire port to record TV, and I have seen them in action. They work OK, but hey, at least it's possible. Just Google it....(I dont remember the name of the product)
