I'm very sorry for the mixup, but it's actually a p992.  I need a replacement vga cable for a p992.

Thanks!!

If the p992 is an FD trinitron, possibly I could give you a SONY CPD G400 part number for the cable, it might work. I own a Sony CPDG400 built Sept. 2000. I am trying to fix a Compaq monitor, its cable looks just like the Sony's. (If the wire has some length, you could replace just the connector on the end.)

se7enty7,

Dell does not sell that cable because it goes into the back of the monitor and Dell does not recommend opening the monitor case..If the monitor or cable is defective Dell would replace the monitor.

That doesn't make sense.  I've already taken it apart; and an m992 has to be disassembled to replace the cable as well.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I've spent half the afternoon on hold with your parts department.  I've gotten everything from that the part number is mcp54, to that I need to talk to the accessory department.

I've bought a replacement cable for an m992 that comes apart the EXACT same way as the p992.  Why can I not purchase a vga cable?
