Dell Update will NOT work

Hi -

Working on my client's Dell Inspiron 3847 in Window 10 Home.

Attempted to "start" the version of Dell Update installed.

The application did NOT start.

Deleted it.

Using Chrome I went to Dell site for this particular Dell.

Saw - downloaded and installed: Dell Digital Delivery + Dell Update.

Restarted.

Attempted to run Dell Update - - - NOPE, won't RUN.!!!

Hmmmmmm ?

With all these issues regarding Intel/AMD chips,  seems to me Dell would want their own "Built-In" Update application to run, eh?

Hello Dell moderator. Advice PLEASE...!

Patrick

This is a user-to-user forum and not the way to reach Dell Tech Support...

Did you install the update using an account having Administrator privileges?

Did you run the app using an account having Administrator privileges? Or at least right-click the app's icon and select Run as Administrator?

eh?

Well, I don't know about the original poster, but I ran it as an administrator and it doesn't work for me either. This has been a problem for a while. I have a fairly new XPS Tower.

@Karin1130  -  Always include the exact PC model in your posts.

You can always go to the support page and put in your Service Tag (Don't post it here.) to find the latest drivers for your specific hardware.

You can probably tell by the dates whether the update is something new that you need. And/or compare the version number shown for the hardware (eg video card) in Device Manager with the version offered on the support page.

Download the ones you need onto your desktop and close all open apps and windows. Disable your antiviral app too. Then right-click a driver file and "Run as Administrator". Repeat until all are installed.

If you're doing a BIOS update, don't interrupt the process or turn the PC off. It should reboot automatically when the BIOS update is done. And then make sure your antiviral app is re-enabled and running.
