I will give this a try. If this works you are a life saver.

Thanks so much.

This one was driving me insane as well! :)

There is a .dll the NVIDIA driver installs on startup that you have to remove.

Go into the registry and locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

Delete the key that makes reference to something like this: "NvCpl.dll"

Sorry, I don't remember exactly what the file name is, but i know for sure it starts with "Nv". This worked for me.

Thanks Hugely!!!

I had this problem with 21 laptops in our office for a month, and now finally they work properly.

Much Appreciated.

Cheers

I've seen this happen when the operating system re-detects the video card (NVIDIA). Might want to try uninstalling the NVIDIA drivers, reboot, then re-install the drivers. Then try deleteing the key in the RUN key. Be sure to check all of the RUN entries. There could be one hidden in one of the other RUN keys.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

Another thing to remember is that is this computer is running Windows 2000 or XP, you will have to remove the key in every new profile that is created. Might want to do what I do here and configure one profile and copy it to the Default Folder granting EVERYONE access. That way when a new profile is created, they will always have the same settings.

We will give it a try. Thanks so much for the speedy response... This is getting quite annoying. The guy is trying to run dual monitors and everytime he reboots it changes and the key is back in place....

I will let you know.

Okay here is a new problem. I have a user with a M60 laptop and he is having this problem and when he reboots the key reappears.... ANY IDEAS!

This doesn't make sense I haven't seen this happen. Has anyone?
