A computer HDMI out port cannot upconvert to a monitor DP in port via a straight converter cable. What you bought is designed to do the opposite = Computer DP out port --> DP to HDMI converter cable --> Monitor HDMI in port
The E2416H DP in port and VGA in port both do the same resolution = 1920x1080 60Hz
It would be more cost effective for you to return that cable and purchase a HDMI to VGA converter cable.
