Latitude C400 not charging batteries, nor will AC power work.

Question

This is a strange one....I have a Lat C400 that a user brought to me saying the batteries won't charge. As it turns out both batteries will charge fine....in a DIFFERENT C400. The laptop will not charge batteries, nor does the AC power work in either standalone or in the docking station. When the batteries are charged in another C400, then put in the original, it works fine till the batteries run out. I replaced the system board yesterday, and am still having the EXACT same problem. So, unless I got a bad system board replacement part...what could be the problem? any ideas?   Thanks Message Edited by lumpulus on 05-14-2004 07:18 AM

lumpulus, Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum. When you replaced the board, did you replace the DC to DC converter board?

Huh? A DC to DC converter? Don't you mean an AC to DC? DC to AC?   Anyway The first mobo I got was bad out of the box. The second one that was sent solved the problem.   Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem. Only I have not changed out the motherboard. I have only had this computer for a little over a year. I am able to use the computer by using a IGO Juice AC adaptor. The laptop has killed "both"of my Dell AC adaptors. Can you please give me the part number. My computer is no longer under warrantee as it was a replacement for a my previous dell.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
