Unplug the system, disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove the memory modules and hard drive;  reinstall.  Plug in the adapter (no battery).  If the system will run, but won't with the battery connected, the battery is bad.  If it won't, the mainboard is bad.

Hey, I've had the exact same problem as you, and it happened just around the same time you originally posted this, took the laptop into a repair shop for diagnostics and they told me that the processor was dead, and that they'd seen the same issue in the same model of laptop a few times before. I called up Dell's customer support, and they basically told me that, because a processor issue requires replacing the entire motherboard, and because it's out of warranty, I'd have to pay more for the repair than I originally did for the laptop, which is pretty outrageous.

I'm starting to think that Dell used a really bad batch of processors for this line of laptops, or made some serious misjudgments in the design, judging by the fact that we've both had the same issue here, and that my local repair shop saw multiple occurrences of the same issue, it seems to be way too frequent, and way too specific an issue to be much else, really. I get that devices can get issues like these from time to time, but it's certainly a curious case as to why this specific model of laptop has been so prolific with its issues. Feeling pretty cheated to say the least.

Hello, I just had the same problem with this model I checked the ignition button, which usually breaks and does not turn on, but it is entering current and it is working. I have not found a solution to the problem it seems that it is the processor since the plate is in perfect condition. I think that a great majority of processors are soldiers directly to the plate, and it seems that overheating and a blow is damaged. the person who brought me the team works many hours with light programs. It just lasted a year. It is ruined just months after the guarantee ends. I recommend him dell. A few years ago and now I desepciona. but all laptop manufacturers are welding directly to the motherboard. a shame
