Inspiron 5675, No HDMI out signal to monitor

Are you using onboard video or an add-in video card? Do you have the latest AMD chipset and video drivers installed?

Open the Windows Power options screen and select the currently active Power plan. Then look for the link to Additional Options. On that screen disable Hibernation, Hybrid Sleep, and PCI Express Link State Power Management. Save the changes to the plan and reboot.

See if that helps...

The video card is the one that came with the thing.  I didn't change it.

Did everything you mentioned above.  It did help one thing.  If I restart the computer monitor kicks back on no problem, but if I put it in sleep mode, then press a button to awaken the computer it still wont' give any video signal.  Still wondering **bleep** but at the same time at least the computer is up and running and I can work throughout the day with no problem.

That doesn't answer the question. Are you using onboard AMD video or some add-in (NVidia) card? Go to the Support page and put in your Service Tag. Follow the links to find your Original Configuration and see what "video" items are listed.

Then make sure you have the latest chipset driver and video driver(s) specific for your system and version of Windows.

What button are you pressing, keyboard, mouse...? 

Reboot and immediately press F2 to open BIOS setup. Look for "USB Wake Support" (or similarly worded option). Make sure that option is enabled. Note: the online service manual doesn't list BIOS setting options for this model :Angry: so you may not have this option in BIOS setup. If you have it and enable it, be sure to save the change before exiting setup, but do not change any other BIOS settings.

Either way, after rebooting, open Device Manager and expand list under USB. Double-click a USB root hub and click its Power Management tab. Uncheck the box "Allow PC to turn off...". Repeat for all USB root hubs.

Now, expand list under Human Interface Devices (HID) in Device Manager. Double-click each HID entry and look for a Power Management tab. If it has one, uncheck that same box "Allow PC to turn off...". Reboot when done and see if that helps.

Not sure what word got bleeped, so use a different/acceptable word if you want to elaborate on that more. :Wink:

That's definitely not normal. My 5675 has a Radeon RX570, and I have not had any problems with the system going to sleep and not finding the monitor. Sounds like a settings issue.

are there multiple HDMI ports on your card? Have you tried using a different one?

Which button?  Keyboard or mouse.  Each time the fan goes on and the lights on the computer go back on so I know the computer is awake but again no video signal.

Tried the f2 Bios option.  No USB wake support option.  There was a USB option but it only allowed me to shut off or on the front or back USB ports.

Went to the device manager power management option and shut off all of the "Allow PC to turn off.." and still the same problem.

Did the same in the Human Interface Devices (HID) section.  Same problem too.

I agree it's something with the settings.  The monitor works fine, the cable is fine. I just don't know what the eff it is.

Also I didn't intentionally write anything worth bleeping so I don't know what was bleeped out.  When I say a four-letter word on a highly moderated forum I use the word "eff" or "frack."

In any case if I don't figure it out the computer is otherwise working fine and it's not something messing up my day to day work.

Yes but there's only one port where the video cable fits into nicely.  I tried other ones but it didn't fit into those others.

well all that means is the GPU card drivers are wrong! for sure.!

but you never told where the HDMI jack is , on main board or PCI-e slot.

not telling that we then guess wildly what to do.

"One HDMI port (only with computers shipped with AMD Quad-Core APU processors) "                           

---so do you have that? IDK, pleaset tell what jacks you are using. I can not see your PC or cables and where they go, ok. that way telling that and names of PCI cards, I can point to correct exact drivers.

but the answer is simple

my guess is you upgraded the OS? then forgot to get the correct drives for you unstated GPU chip/card /whatever is there, IDK.

also sleep mode never works right with drivers wrong ( the oldest story on earth on PCs this) both really endless posts world wide of folks running or missing key or correct drivers. mostly w10 now and bigtime 64bith. w10;
