The other thing about that Pen is it has two modes.  If one mode doesn't work try the other, possibly MPP.

This assumes the system has the sticker mentioned.

Unless the system has a "pen compatible" sticker on it, the system has a touchscreen - which won't work with an active pen.

Hi, i have a ispiron 17.3 7000. I have one problem. The Penn pn579x work but don't write. Know you the to resolve?

All you can do is try changing the mode.  If it has an active screen you should see some indication when the Pen gets close to the screen.  If you do not see any reaction then the battery is not installed or the screen is not active.

My Inspiron 17 7779 does not have an active screen. When they first started putting active screens of some Inspirons, the sticker was the only way to know for sure.  I do not know what the current thinking is for how they designate such a system.  There is a compatibility list for the Pen somewhere although in some cases it may not be accurate.
