I was also wonder about this. Have been thinking of upgrading and filling out the memory on my machine and saw that it was an option to have the 3200Mhz chips in the system. The manual says the max is 2933Mhz so it's a bit confusing.
I am pretty sure the system doesn't do well with 8gb sticks. 16gb sticks are compatible. I use 64gb of hyper x fury at 2933mhz under xmp. During my research prior to buying, I found a lot of information regarding people having issues with 8gb sticks.
Have you tried activating one of the OC profiles in the control center?
Maybe but you never know :) Once upon a time I had an option for XMP 2 in the BIOS but lost it after one of the BIOS updates. Do you happen to know how to get it back?

Your ram may not be fully compatible.
Crucial and Kingston (ie hyper fury x) was identified as compatible, this is why I picked it up.
Here is another thread with some discussion around the subject.

I know R7 works well at 2933Mhz, but I am trying if it is compatible with 3200Mhz chips.

Yes, my ram has it's highest clock at 3200 as well I believe. But in the alienware, it's auto OC'd to 2933 as max.

What did you do to get it to run at 3200? I have Ballistix 3000 but it's running at 2400 with no XMP 2 option.

He is perhaps full of it.
The bios won't allow anything over 2933 under xmp profiles.
